"Here's your chance to say your peace about Duke before I decide." WildWing met the uncomfortable gazes of each of his teammates in turn; silently grateful Duke had agreed to not be present as his future on the team was decided. He had no idea the rogue trusted him that much.

"What's to say?" Mallory snapped. "There's no place for a faggot on this team."

WildWing nodded, his hand straying to the mask on the table next to him. "Does anyone disagree?"

"What is the problem?" Tanya spoke up hesitantly, looking directly at WildWing.

A sharp look silenced Mallory before she could answer. "That's what I'm looking for. Do you have one with him staying on the team?" WildWing inclined his head and pretended not to notice how Mallory steamed.

"No." She shied away from the venom in Mallory's glare. "I don't see how it affects anything important."

"Grin?" WildWing turned to the giant.

"It is an unfitting condition, but not unchangeable."

"I'll take that as a problem with it." He nodded coldly and turned to his little brother. "And you?"

"It's creepy." NoseDive made a face.

"Your decision has been accepted." WildWing nodded solemnly. "We will leave tonight."

"What?" The startled explosion was carried on four voices, but Mallory's was the most shocked.

WildWing locked eyes with his military specialist. "You have chosen your fate. All who would love their own gender will leave the team."

"No," her denial was as strong as her hatred.

"Mallory," his voice dropped to a deadly tone none of them had heard from him before, "Canard and I are lovers, and have been our entire adult lives. Just what did you think he was to me, that I've had such difficulty letting go?"

WildWing didn't wait for her to answer as he stalked out of the room, mask in hand.

"It's done." WildWing sighed as he stood in the doorway to Duke's quarters as the dark Duck came up to him with only the trunk in his hands.

"That took some guts." Duke put a hand on WildWing's shoulder after putting the trunk next to his leader's backpack.

"No," he shook his head as they picked up their possessions and walked slowly outside, "it just took rage."

"Hey, guys." Phil hailed them as he came running up. "This is some kind of bad joke, right?"

"What, Phil?" WildWing managed to sound perfectly normal.

"You two can't leave ...."

"Yes we can," WildWing snapped with close to the cold rage that had stared Mallory down, "and we are. Now go away before it is the least of your concerns."

The fat human cringed and back away hurriedly as sizable, sleek dark brown spaceship settled in front of them.

"Hay, wait up!" Tanya yelled as the males started up the ramp and she ran out of The Pond with a tote bag in hand.

"Not you too!" Phil nearly cried.

"What is it, Tanya?" WildWing's voice was soft.

"You're still my team leader ... if you'll have me." She blushed slightly under white feathers.

WildWing gave Duke an unreadable look, got one in return and nodded, extending his hand to her. "If you want to join us, you are welcome to."
