"Vinnie," a professionally polite male voice caught his attention as he came out of the arena grounds dressed in his loincloth and light bracers. "My mistresses are interested in spending the night with you."

The mouse turned his head towards the smoky gray Saluki without speaking. The invitation wasn't unprecedented, but he was yet to accept one so far.

"No kink, my mistresses and yourself, six hundred crown to you." He offered with the same messenger manner.

It was tempting, they were always tempting. Nonetheless his wariness remained. He stood there for a few moments, watching the messenger as if that would somehow give him and indication of what this invitation meant.

"No promises," he allowed eventually. "I'll come, but if I choose to leave then I'll be allowed."

"At any point," he nodded. "Though if you choose to leave before midnight, the payment will be proportionately less."

"Fine," Vinnie agreed. "Should I shower?"

"No," the lean, feathered canine smiled slightly. "They prefer to enjoy that with you."

"Lead the way then."

The messenger nodded and turned to the area where the visitor's stabled their mounts and coaches for the games. "Do you know how to ride a horse?"

"No," Vinnie shook his head. "I've never ridden an animal."

"Then for this, all you'll have to do is hold on to me, and keep your balance as best you can." The smaller canine explained as he took a dappled cream and gold horse from a stable hand and lead the fine, though placed, animal over to a set of three stairs before swinging up to settle in the saddle and hold it there. "Just climb up and sit behind me. She's very mellow."

Vinnie hesitated then climbed up behind the canine, moving around rather clumsily until he was seated properly.

A bumpy, though calm, twenty minute fast walk later, the canine turned the horse into a sizable villa largely of white and gold marble, with lavishly growing gardens of all colors and a hundred shades of green.

"My mistresses are Kessha, the silver Saluki, and Maress, a white Golden Retriever." The messenger explained as he pulled their mount to a halt near the wide, open doorway into the grand white house, dressed in an interesting mix of exotic sparten and plush softness. "Both are very much the snuggly, touch-feelie type."

"Kessha and Maress, right," Vinnie confirmed as he slipped from the horse, glad to have his feet back on the ground.

"Just follow the sound of the water. I'm sure they are both playing in the bathing pool by now."

Vinnie turned without another word and walked into the building. He didn't hurry, taking his first opportunity to have a look at the world outside of the arena complex, and found it lush and opulent, though nothing compared to the room he first woke in.

Everything was of white marble, polished to a mirror shine with inlays of a rainbow of glittering colors in abstract swirling and geometric patterns. The furniture, carpets, and body-sized pillows were in contrast in a shimmering collection of pastels of silk, velvet and similar softness. The statues and artwork decorating the building was notable largely for the lack of people, and anything less than highly stylized animals, in it. Most were of wilderness scenes, and decorative patterns, rather than living things.

He made his way through the complex at a relaxed pace, an uncertain feeling building in him and making him wonder again whether he should have agreed to come. The soft sound of voices and falling water grew steadily louder as he continued, until eventually he stepped through into an airy atrium, set with a bathing pool and a small water garden off to one side.

"Ah, there you are," the warm, perky voice of the very pale blond Golden Retriever bitch greeted him with an inviting bark. "The water is nice."

"I'm sure," Vinnie said, taking a few steps out to the water's edge as a silvery-white bitch of the same small, tightly athletic build as her messenger watched him with deep brown eyes. "I usually shower after the arena."

"Yes, and how you have the dust of the road in your fur too," Kessha smiled playfully at him. "Come and get clean with us."

"You're Kessha," he said as he slipped into the pool, watching the slender canine carefully.

"Yes," she nodded and waded towards him in the sizeable bathing pool with slow grace. "I know you aren't shy about that fine body of yours." She smiled and motioned to his loincloth.

"I'm unused to bathing in front of others," he admitted.

Kessha blinked in surprise as Maress relaxed back so she was floating in the warm, bubbling water.

"We were thinking we would bath each other," she smiled at him softly. "Have you been with a female before?" She asked gently.

"Many," Vinnie smirked. "Though not since I arrived here."

"We're not unlike the ones you're likely used to." Maress smiled at him as she floated over. "Just that there's two of us that like your looks."

"It's a pleasant change from the barracks anyway. No females around there."

"Yes, we've noticed." Kessha said as she moved hear him to run a strong, finely boned hand along his shoulder and arm. "We have to go to other arenas to see them."

Vinnie's muscles tensed up beneath his dusty fur as her finger traced their way down over his arm. "I didn't realize there even were female fighters," he said, trying to remain calm and stoic.

"Not in this city, but other territories have them," Maress said as she floated watching him with her mate.

"You're very tense," the Saluki said in her soft, airy voice. "Is something wrong?"

"No," He said, shaking his head. "It's all right. I'm just not used to this."

"Anything make you more comfortable?" Maress offered softly.

Vinnie seemed a little taken aback by the suggestion. "Just ... back off a little," he said softly.

"Okay," Kessha slipped back in the water and gently kicked backwards, though her appreciation for his body was clear in the way she looked at him as she turned her partial attention to playing with her mate.

Vinnie sighed softly, relaxing somewhat as she moved away, and turned his attention over to the task of getting himself clean. His hands moved slowly across his chest and shoulders, rinsing the dust and sweat out of his fur. Once he was done he sank beneath the surface of the water, staying down for a few moments before getting back to his feet.

"Feel better?" Maress asked before her mate's tongue between her legs drew a deep moan.

"Yeah," the mouse nodded. "Better."

"Going to come over to play, or watch us for a while?" Kessha's slender muzzle peaked up from Maress' spread legs for a moment before going back to work on the Retriever.

"I don't ..." Vinnie began, but stopped himself. They were paying him to be here, after all. "Which would you prefer?"

"You don't what, Vinnie?" Maress asked gently through her pleasure.

"I don't do this often," he said. "Like I said, you're the first females I've seen since I got here."

"Well, that's likely to change," she smiled at him. "An attractive, successful gladiator like yourself is bound to get offers, some that even want to be your girlfriend, if you're into such things."

"Girlfriend?" The mouse asked skeptically. "Like anyone would want to hook up with a slave."

"You might be surprised," Kessha smiled up at him for a moment. "If you go clubbing some evenings. Plenty don't care that much."

"I haven't really been in the mood for that sort of thing." He said as Maress sank into the water to press close against her mate.

"Well, when you find the mood, you might find a female or two who wants to date you."

"Maybe," Vinnie shrugged. "They don't let us out that much."

"Oh, pretty. You have to ask for what you want, for stuff like that." Maress woofed gently. "If you aren't expected to be somewhere and you aren't a troublemaker, you can do a lot."

"I'm not all that popular over there. I prefer to keep to myself."

"Like you are now," she smiled softly at him. "We're not going to hurt you, Vinnie."

"I didn't think you would," he replied, trying to sound casual and hoping it didn't sound like as much of a lie as it was.

"Rinnal did tell you you were free to leave when you wished, didn't he?"

"Yeah," Vinnie nodded. "I made sure of that."

"Then what troubles you about joining us?" She asked gently. "It's not the usual things gladiators have trouble with."

"Well, I'm not a usual gladiator," Vinnie chuckled. "What are the usual things?"

"Being with a female is the most common," Kessha said from where she was nuzzling between Maress' amble breasts.

"Thinking we play by the same rules as the barracks is the other big one."

"Or being paid for their attentions," she added quietly, looking the white mouse over.

"If I thought it was going to be anything like the barracks I wouldn't have come," Vinnie said defensively. "Not a chance."

"So why did you come?" Kessha asked curiously, and a little confused. "It's fairly clear you haven't seen us in the stands, and we don't offer that much money. You like females, but stay clear of the only two here."

The mouse shrugged. "Honestly, I dunno. I've never accepted one of these invitations before."

"Do you find us attractive?" She asked quietly.

Vinnie paused, watching the pair of them and giving it serious consideration. "Yeah, I guess so. You're the first female canines I've met, but you're pretty good."

"Then take this invitation as we intend it," Maress said quietly, extending her hand. "The money is because it's expected, not because we are hiring you."

That earned her a quizzical look from the white mouse, though he drew a step closer. "Why me?"

"Because you're attractive to us," she said simply. "We happen to have a thing for white, and you're the size and build we like. You seem to have good endurance too."

"Lady, you have no idea," he grinned.

"Will we before you leave?" Kessha ruffed playfully.

"I guess that depends on whether we ever get out of the water," Vinnie smirked.

"Not much for water games, mmm?" Maress grinned at him as they moved towards the steps out.

"Not much," he agreed. "It makes things awkward."

"Pillows more to your taste?" Kessha grinned as she stepped out, her silvery fur short like his, except for her long ears and the feathering along her tail, wrists and ankles.

"Works better, yeah."

"Then come on, pretty boy," Maress grinned and wagged her thick, water logged tail. "We can dry off and see how our bedroom suits your type of play."

Fallowing the friendly smile he walked into a soft moss-green room that had warm, swirling air currents that dried even Maress' long, dense fur quickly.

"Do you have a preferred game?" Kessha asked with a hungry rumble as she came up near him when they were dry and the Retriever was still drying.

Vinnie shook his head. "It's been a while since I though much about that soft a thing," he told her, managing a shy smile.

"Then why don't we start with seeing how long you can hold back with both of us trying." Maress suggested with a grin as she fluffed her fur with a specially designed brush.

"All right," Vinnie agreed, nodding slowly while Kessha ran her hands lightly over his arms as she slipped behind him and embrace him caressingly from behind.

"You are a very nice armful," she rumbled hotly near his ear before reaching up to experimentally lick at one antennae, an item she'd never had occasion to play with before. She got an immediate response, the white mouse's breath catching in his throat as his entire body tensed against hers for a moment.

"Was that a good tense?" She asked softly, not completely sure how to read this lover yet.

"Yeah," he replied throatily. "They're very sensitive."

"Ah," Kessha smiled and slipped around to face him as her larger mate came behind him. Both explored his body with strong, gentle hands before Kessha knelt to nuzzle and lick the soft fur and softer skin of his groin, and Maress interlaced her fingers with his and focused careful attention on the thin red organs that gave him such pleasure.

Vinnie was helpless between them and, surprised at himself, found the experience quite pleasurable. Soft moans escaped from his lips and his cock swelled beside Kessha's muzzle, quickly filling out to its full size under the attentions of the two experiences females. He was vaguely aware that between them they were ready to support most of his weight, then his swollen length was taken into a mouth full of sharp teeth that didn't hurt, and a soft tongue that was very good at swirling and teasing the sensitive skin it touched.

He moaned loudly as pleasure washed through him, flowing up from his groin and down from his antenna and threatening to wash him away already. It had been so long since he'd felt anything like this, or even dared to imagine it could be.

Then one antennae was taken into an equally skilled mouth as the one below, and gentle, furred fingers fondled and stroked the other. Meanwhile Kessha rolled his balls on her hand and rubbed the base of his sheath between two strong fingers while she suckled and swirled. It was just too much. He cried out loudly as his hips bucked forward, his seed spurting in wave after wave into Kessha's muzzle to be swallowed and lapped up by the elegant canine.

"He tastes as good as he looks," she rumbled with a grin as she stood, maintaining her hold on his hips to keep him upright.

"And he looks very sweet like that."

Vinnie didn't reply, panting loudly in the aftermath of orgasm and trying to regain his footing as they supported and nuzzled him playfully.

"Care to try that inside one of us?" Maress rumbled in his ear, the scent of canine arousal heavy in the warm, moist air.

"Oh yeah," Vinnie said with a grin, "Definitely."

"Think you can handle pleasuring both of us at once?" Kessha rumbled as he was guided to a huge, fluffy mound of pillow-beds and pulled down with Maress into the silky mass.

"What did you have in mind?"

"How's that tongue of yours?" Maress rumbled and leaned over him for a soft kiss.

"It's been around," Vinnie chuckled.

"Good," she rumbled and straddled his face, her legs fairly wide as her mate nuzzled the mouse to full arousal again and impaled herself with a hungry moan.

Vinnie's hands came up around Maress' hips, drawing her a little closer as his tongue lapped across her opening. He ran it around the insides of her body's lips, making sure she was very wet before delving deep inside her. His moan as the other canine sank onto his hard length was muffled by her body, his tongue twisting and shifting inside her as his hips began a long, slow grind up into Kessha.

Moaning in pleasure both females leaned foreword, their mouths locking in an intensely intimate kiss while their hands ran across each other's bodies from sensitive breasts down to press a hard clit against the male pleasuring them.

Vinnie was in no hurry to end it, keeping the movement of his hips slow and even as his cock slid through the slick wetness of Kessha's body and Maress' juices flowed out around his muzzle as she began to writhe and howl, her body tightening in a rhythm around his tongue. With his last orgasm so much more recent than hers, Kessha eagerly road his cock hard, yipping and howling as she drew close. Vinnie's hands gripped Maress' thighs firmly, holding her in place as his tongue probed upward into the pulsing vault of her body. His hips took their lead from the canine riding them, pressing up when she pushed down to bury his length as deep inside her demanding passage as possible.

The Retriever howled deep inside her body as a rush of pheromone-rich juice drenched the fur of Vinnie's muzzle, followed only a couple strokes later by her mate riding the mouse's cock.

Vinnie's tongue slowly withdrew from the body above him, licking the slick wetness out of the fur of her groin as Maress whimpered and shuddered at the extra attention before sinking back to the bed.

"Now don't be greedy Kes," she rumbled between pants as she lay on her back, legs spread wide as she played lightly with herself. "I want some of that too."

"Now ladies," Vinnie smirked as the Saluki draw off him slowly, "There's plenty to go around?"

"We certainly hope so," Kessha licked her muzzle hungrily. "Do you enjoy being mounted, handsome?"

"No," Vinnie said flatly, his voice loosing the playful tone of a moment before.

"Then we don't do that." She shrugged.

"Well, come here and mount me." Maress rumbled hotly.

Vinnie rolled over onto his front, crawling across the pillows towards her. He dipped his head as he moved between her legs, nuzzling at her crotch for a moment. He played his tongue across her clit and left it against her as he moved further up, licking a long, wet stripe across her belly as she rumbled and shivered, pushing her hips up against him in encouragement.

His cock was still thick and hard as the head of it bumped against her lips, just as the mouse sealed his mouth around one of her nipples. He swirled his tongue around the nub of flesh, letting it play across a wide area and wetting her fur with his saliva as she reached to stroke his antennae.

"Fuck me, Vinnie."

A shiver ran down his spine as she stroked the sensitive red appendages, a soft moan rolling down over her breasts. He shifted his position slightly, moving his weight forward, and then sunk himself down into her welcoming wetness, his cock sliding in easily until his balls were pressed against her body and she wrapped her calves around his thighs, thrusting up eagerly.

Without a word Kessha settled over her mate's muzzle and drew Vinnie's head up to her breasts as she leaned down to lick and caress what enticed him so.

Vinnie moaned, thrusting himself deeper into the canine beneath him. He set a quicker pace this time, eager for his own moment to come again and pumping his hips in a steady rhythm that Maress matched with abandon. The mouse moaned loudly, his mouth working around Kessha's breasts as tension mounted within his body.

Every moan and thrust he gave was matched, encouraged and rewarded by the bitches he was with, themselves quickly drawing close to their limits. It wasn't long before he exploded again, long abstinence lending force to the pleasure that spiraled through his body as his balls pumped their contents out into the body beneath him. It held him for several seconds, his body tense and trembling until it passed, leaving him panting in its wake as the canines nuzzled and shifted to settle with him between them.

Vinnie panted softly, surprised once again at how pleasant the sensation of closeness was as the females snuggled him.

"More fun than a night at a barracks?" Kessha whispered with a grin in her voice.

"You have no idea," Vinnie replied as they nuzzled him.

"Care to stay tomorrow night?" Maress kissed him gently, not really expecting him to respond.

"I'll think about it," he said carefully.

"If you decide to, just tell Telgar that you're going to see us," Kessha smiled and relaxed against him. "Unless you get restricted for some reason, he shouldn't have a problem."

"I won't forget," he said with a nod. "It shouldn't be much trouble. I'm careful to play by the rules."

"Maybe that will finally work for you."

The mouse shrugged. He didn't really have much to say to that as the females settled in for a nap.

"Unless you're starving, dinner is in a couple hours." Kessha murmured.

"That's fine," he said, in no hurry to move.

"Good, you're nice to snuggle against," Maress yawned and snuggled closer, her thick tail wagging sleepily.

Three days later Rinnal appeared after Vinnie's match.

"Good day, Vinnie," the elegant steel gray Saluki servant of Kessha and Maress caught his attention. "My mistresses would like your time again."

The mouse actually smiled at the servant, nodding. "Showered, or do they want me fresh from the arena again?"

"If you wish to bath with them, please come now. They wish to you come before dinner at the latest if not."

Vinnie though about it briefly. "I'm ready to go now."

The canine smiled, clearly pleased at the choice. "Then follow me. It will be by horse again."

"Oh great," Vinnie muttered under his breath, following as he was led toward the awkward animal.

"Unfortunately the capitol itself is a no-technology zone," Rinnal explained as they walked.

"There's got to be a better way than these things though."

"We can walk, but it takes much longer, and is more effort."

Vinnie sighed and nodded, not looking forward to the trip. "I suppose so."

"Do you like being a gladiator?" He asked curiously as he accepted their chestnut mount from the stable hand.

"Not really," Vinnie admitted as Rinnal got them mounted and settled for the short ride.

"Have you considered other things to do?" He asked quietly as the animals rocking fast walk moved them away from the arena.

"I haven't got much choice," Vinnie said. "They said I could decide for myself and then tricked me out of that too."

"I think my mistresses like you a great deal, Vinnie," he said quietly. "Perhaps enough to buy the reminder of your time if they see what they want in you, beyond the bedroom."

"I'm not a whore," the mouse replied flatly.

"No, a whore must always perform," he nodded. "As you have already experienced, that is not their way, and not all of what they want."

"No, they want a good little pet."

Rinnal couldn't help the soft chuckle. "That would be the Twins. Just be yourself, they like both spirit and independence in those they take in. Those capable of taking care of themselves, entertaining themselves, and are fun to be with when there isn't sex involved."

"Yeah. Maybe."

"Just letting you know they've talked about it," the Saluki shrugged. "I expect they'd be quite content to see you only after fights when you want to play too."

"If they want to talk about it then they can talk about it with me," Vinnie decided.

"That won't be for a few evenings at least." Rinnal smiled gently. "They do intend to find out if they're compatibility outside the bedroom, after all. Your price is not a small one."

"I'm sure it's not," Vinnie snorted. "They didn't want me getting away any time soon."

"No, they do not." The canine nodded, disgust in his tone. "No one has yet had the power to challenge the Twins and their decrees."

"Bitches," Vinnie spat.

Rinnal pulled the horse up short, his reaction enough to make the soft-mouthed animal protest until he loosened the reins. "Vinnie ... my mistresses have done nothing to deserve that tone from you."

"No, I'm sorry," Vinnie said, shaking his head. "I meant the Twins."

"Oh," he relaxed slowly and urged their mount on. "They're feline, not canine."

"Where I come from it can apply to any females."

"I understand," he said softly. "You aren't the only one to use such terms disrespectfully. It has made many of us rather sensitive about it. Bitch means roughly what 'lady' does in many cultures to most canines."

"I said I was sorry," Vinnie said defensively. "I didn't mean to upset you."

"I just wanted to let you know it's not just me that's likely to react that way," Rinnal said quietly. "If you stay around the estate long, you'll hear bitch used in many contexts, but rarely as an insult. It is an appropriate way to address a female canine politely."

"Right. I'll try and remember."

"You'll do fine," Rinnal smiled and patted the mouse's leg with a free hand. "They like you."

The touch seemed to do little to reassure the mouse, who just nodded curtly as they turned into the estate's main gardens.

"They're in the bathing pool again."

"I remember the way," Vinnie nodded, sliding down off the horse and making his way through toward the open courtyard and it's pool of clear water. "Ladies," he greeted the two canines, both of them wait-deep in the pool.

"Oh good," Maress grinned up at him as her heavy tail wagged under the water.

"Come join us, then." Kessha grinned.

Vinnie nodded, welcoming the clean cool water as it cleared away the dust and stale sweat of the arena and they waded up to him, claiming both soap and spare hands to work on him.

There was only a moment of tension as they set their hands on him, before the mouse relaxed slightly and let the pair take care of him. He closed his eyes and sighed softly as their hands moved across his body, his head and shoulders bowed.

"Vinnie?" Maress asked in a bit of concern as she paused.

"Something wrong?"

"No, not really," the mouse replied softly.

The silvery white Golden Retriever tipped his face up with a gentle hand. "Tell me anyway," she said just as softly.

"I don't know," the mouse replied shaking his head. "I'm just tired."

"All right," she nodded and went to work, though much of the playfulness was now missing from their touch. "You can sleep before dinner if you'd like."

"Yes, please," Vinnie said softly as they finished up his fur.

"Then let's get dried off and you can take a nap in a guest room." Kessha smiled gently at him.

Vinnie just nodded, letting the females run their hands over him as he was led out of the water, and drying made quick work of.

"I'll show you where," Kessha said quietly as Maress was still working on her much thicker pelt. He followed her quietly, settling down in the room she showed him. It was much more comfortable than where he slept back in the arena, soft silken pillows and a mattress that was firm enough without being hard. She watched him from the door for a few moments as he drifted off before returning to her mate.

"Vinnie?" A very low, gentle female voice eventually penetrated the mouse's awareness. "I brought you dinner. They were worried if you missed a meal."

The white mouse dragged himself up into a sitting position, staring at the plate in front of him for a few moments before it really registered with him. "It must be late," he managed to say.

"The house is bedding down for the night," she nodded. "Mistresses were concerned that you hadn't eaten yet."

"They'll be upset," he sighed softly.

"No, they aren't." She said firmly. "Concerned, yes, but not upset. At least not with you."

"Are they still up?" He asked, lifting knife and fork and beginning to eat the tender meat and flavorful sides.

"No, though they will be awake for a couple more hours yet."

Vinnie was silent for a while, thinking as he chewed. "I should go to see them," he decided quietly.

"I'll show you to the master bedroom when you are done, then." The girl nodded easily.

The rest of the meal passed in silence, Vinnie eating without any great enthusiasm, although it couldn't be denied that the meal was much better than he would have enjoyed had he stayed at the barracks for the night. Eventually he set the plate aside, lifting his eyes toward the serving girl expectantly.

She nodded and stood, picking up the tray and turning to leave. "I'll show you their room, then return this." Vinnie slipped off the bed and followed quietly behind her, without uttering another word as she let him through the villa, now blue in the darkness of night.

"The master suite is in there," she nodded to a beautifully carved light golden wood door. "The lights are still on, you won't interrupt their rest."

Vinnie nodded, remaining silent even as he slipped through the door and into the spacious room beyond, well lit by floating globes illuminating the white pair reading in bed. He didn't know what to say as he approached, his tail flicking back and forth behind him. "I'm sorry I slept so late," he offered softly as Maress looked up and smiled at him. "You won't have to pay."

She nodded slightly, the concern in her golden-brown eyes clear as she set her book down on the nightstand. "Are you just not getting enough sleep?" She asked gently and patted the bed near her and Kessha watched quietly.

Vinnie shrugged as he sat down on the bed. "As much as anyone else, I guess."

"No one else has been so exhausted, even right after a fight." She said gently, concerned.

Vinnie shrugged, finding himself unsure what to say again.

Maress hesitated, then sighed softly. "Did Rinnal mention we were interested in more than just evening games?"

"He said something about it, yeah," the mouse nodded shallowly.

"We could negotiate to have you stay here a full week, to see if we get along for more than just games." Kessha said simply.

"I guess so, if you like." Vinnie replied. "It's nicer here."

Maress sighed. "That question is about what you'd like, Vinnie. Originally we were just going to claim evenings for a few weeks to see, but this isn't right."

The mouse didn't seem roused much by her words, or her concern. "It's not up to me," he said.

"The choice on whether we try is." The Receiver said simply.

"Oh. I'll think about it, I guess."

She nodded again. "Now do you want to sleep the rest of the night with us, or in the guest room?"

"Which would you prefer?"

"The one you'll sleep the best with." She chuckled softly and shook her head. "Vinnie, when we ask you a question, we do actually want your answer."

"It doesn't make any difference to me."

"All right," Maress nodded and lifted the covers as Kessha turned the lights off. "Come snuggle then."

Vinnie slipped down between them, his body still warm and firm for all that he seemed listless as they settled in to snuggle, one on each side, for the night.

"Vinnie," an urgent, and very quiet voice tried to get his attention far too early in the morning.

"Ugh, yeah?" He was never at his best first thing in the morning.

"You need to get up if you're to get back before morning exercises."

"Yeah, I guess you're right," the mouse agreed, sitting up in bed. The two bitches in it with him were only slightly disturbed, easily finding each other to snuggle with when the mouse was no longer there.

"You have time for a quick bite to eat on the ride back if you like." Rinnal said quietly as he guided the still fuzzy warrior out of the master bedroom.

"That'd be great," Vinnie nodded, letting himself be led back through the house to the kitchen. "Not too much though."

"Just a breakfast bar. Not much is really suitable for eating on horseback unless you're and experienced rider."

"Which I'm not. Stupid animal."

"Most are," Rinnal agreed as they swung through the very modern kitchen and the canine grabbed a thick hand sized wrapped bar from a drawer and squeeze bottle from the refrigerator. "Some are very smart."

"Yeah, right."

"I didn't believe it until one started lecturing at the university on biomagic healing." The canine shook his head and handed both items to the mouse. "Granted it was a subspecies, but it still looked like a horse to me."

"Right. Well, I guess I should be heading back."

"You can ride on your own?" Rinnal raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"Not on one of those things. I thought you were taking me."

"I am," he chuckled and headed towards the stables. "Sounded like you were ready to go alone."

"It's a long walk, remember?"

"On a horse," he shook his head as a stable hand led the chestnut mare out. "Never mind." Rinnal said as he swung up easily and moved the animal to where Vinnie had a couple steps to give him an easier way to get up. The mouse was getting better, but he still found mounting the creature an awkward and clumsy process, and always ended up feeling like an idiot afterward, even though no one ever commented.

"Vinnie," Rinnal caught the white mouse outside the mess hall before lunch the next day.

"Again?" The mouse asked, mildly surprised. "Usually it's only when I've been fighting."

"It's a convent way to get a good look at prospects," the lean canine smiled. "More interesting ones get invited for longer stays."

"Ok then. Guess we shouldn't keep them waiting."

The smoky gray Saluki nodded and turned to leave. "Lunch should be ready shortly after we arrive."

Vinnie nodded, following obediently as ever. "Better food than we get here."

"More attractive company for you as well, I expect." He chuckled softly as they walked outside to where the horse was tied for the short stay.

"No-one bothers me unless we're in the arena," Vinnie shrugged. "Then they all want their piece of me."

"And still not many get it," the canine observed as he mounted and brought the animal around to where Vinnie would have an easier time of it.

There was no reply for a while, as Vinnie set about getting himself properly seated on the horse. Rinnal supposed he was getting better, but it was far from a graceful display.

With the mouse firmly in place, Rinnal turned to the animal towards the city. As they rode, Vinnie's eye caught sight of something he hadn't seen here before. A sleek black motorcycle. His gaze was riveted to it, twisting him around in the saddle as they passed it.

"I didn't think that sort of thing was allowed," the mouse said softly, once it had passed out of sight.

"Only in the core of capitol, around the palace." Rinnal explained. "There's space flight technology out here."

"So why are we riding the stupid animal?"

"Because you live in the palace zone, and vehicles aren't permitted there."

"Typical. Everything around here's screwed up."

"No argument from me, Vinnie," the canine shook his head. "Definitely no argument. Do you like motorcycles?"

"Oh yeah. At least I used to, it's been a while since I could get my hands on a decent one."

"Maybe you can take a look at mine? My cousin left it to me, and I really don't know what to do with it."

"Yeah, sure," the mouse shrugged. "If you like."

"Well, it might as well see some use. I don't know how to ride one even."

"It's a hell of a lot easier that riding one of these stupid things," Vinnie replied, clearly no fonder of horses. "More fun too."

"Will you teach me how?"

"Sure," Vinnie nodded.

"What was your bike like?" Rinnal asked as they turned into the villa grounds.

"Fantastic," Vinnie said, a grin spreading across his face. "Top of the line, fully intelligent, self-motivated, absolutely beautiful."

"Wow," Rinnal blinked. "You had an AI motorcycle?"

"Of course. They weren't uncommon where I came from."

That made the elegant canine's eyes go wide. "Incredible."

"Yeah, they're pretty cool."

"Well, mine's nothing like that, but she's a nice one locally."

"I'll check it out, anyway. You should learn to ride something real at least."

Rinnal chuckled softly and pulled the horse to a stop outside the stable and waited for Vinnie to dismount. The mouse was no more graceful getting off than he was getting on, though he was obviously much happier to have his feet back on the ground.

"Come on, dinner should be ready," Rinnal grinned. The mouse nodded, following along behind the canine quietly as they walked into the villa.

"Ah, good to see you, Vinnie." Maress smiled at him, though she was somewhat distracted by her mate's muzzle against her neck.

"Mistress Maress," he nodded as he sat down, "Mistress Kessha."

"Please, no titles here," Maress smiled softly at him. "You are not a slave in this house."

Vinnie didn't reply to that as he sat down, running his eyes over the excellent spread. It certainly surpassed the kind of food they served at the arena as they served themselves.

"Do you have any hobbies here yet, Vinnie?" Maress asked curiously as they ate.

"I beat people up for the crowds," he offered.

"Really?" She looked at him curiously, and surprised. "It didn't seem like to enjoyed that all that much."

"I don't."

"That's not a hobby then," she said gently. "Hobbies are things you enjoy doing."

"Not much then," he admitted. "It's not exactly a priority over there."

"Surely you have free time," Kessha prompted, concerned. "We know you aren't a troublemaker."

"Depends on your definition. I don't take part in their stupid games, so I'm not the most popular person. I keep to myself most of the time."

"You aren't a troublemaker to Telgar," she elaborated. "You don't break the rules. You should have a good deal of free time to do as you please with."

Vinnie shrugged. "Like I said, mostly I just keep to myself. It's not like they're running an entertainment complex down there."

The three canines exchanged surprised looks. "There are many outside the palace zone." Rinnal explained quietly. "This world has interstellar travel, and all that comes with it."

"Yeah," Vinnie muttered. "I had noticed that."

"No one let you know you could leave the grounds, did they?" Maress asked quietly.

"People have been screwing me over since day one. It's not a huge surprise."

"You can, as long as you make your training and matches." Kessha told him. "The money you earn is good out in the real world."

"It doesn't make a whole lot of difference. There's only one thing I want."

"Freedom?" Maress guessed.

"Of course," Vinnie nodded.

"That's why you stay a gladiator?" Kessha asked gently.

"I'm a gladiator because I was kidnapped, and then tricked into it," the mouse said bluntly.

"They didn't tell you you could do something else, either?" Maress rumbled, clearly getting angry.

"The other choice was being a whore," Vinnie spat, very clear on how he felt about that.

"That's not exactly the truth either, by a long shot." Maress sighed. "Just the two that may earn their freedom in under twenty years."

Vinnie didn't reply, though from the look on his face it might have been just as well he didn't give voice to his thoughts. Instead the focused his attention on the food, taking the opportunity to eat well while it was available.

"Did you have any hobbies before?" Maress asked after a silence devoted to the meal.

"I was moving around a lot," Vinnie replied, sounding somewhat calmer, "Never stayed in one place for all that long."

"Your motorcycle?" Rinnal asked.

"Had a few, here and there, none of then as good as the original," the was a subtle note of longing in Vinnie's voice. "Not that it makes any difference now."

"Why, if you don't mind." Maress asked gently.

"You said it yourself," Vinnie muttered. "I'll probably be a slave for the rest of my life."

"You can't be that old," the Saluki frowned. "A good gladiator can be out in ten or twelve, or less, if they find a sponsor."

Vinnie sighed softly. "I'm sorry but that's not exactly encouraging."

"It won't be worth doing back, by then, will it?" She asked gently.

"I'll probably end up like the lizard. Hanging around at the arena because it's the only thing I can still do."

"Surely you have other skills," Kessha looked aghast.

"Not much," Vinnie admitted. "I've always been a fighter. Didn't have much choice."

"Do you want to try?" Maress asked gently.

"It's not like there's much point," Vinnie said, shaking his head. "I'm certainly not going anywhere."

"You could." Kessha said.

"I'm not gonna make myself into someone's whore."

The elegant silver hound growled softly and thumped her head on a hand while Maress sighed sadly.

"Do you want to lean any skills, so you don't have to be a fighter or whore?" The white Retriever explained. "You have the time, and access, if you want it."

"Really, I don't think it'll make much difference," Vinnie said softly, leaning back from the table. "Maybe I shouldn't have come."

"We just want to get to know you, Vinnie." Maress said gently. "It's pretty clear you don't want to be where you are."

"That can't be much of a surprise," he snorted.

"Why so resistant to having better?"

"Because it only looks better," Vinnie raised his voice explosively, unable to contain his anger any more. "It's just to make people like you two feel better about the fact I've been kidnapped and enslaved and can never ever go back to my life!"

"And that is a reason to make yourself more miserable than necessary?" Kessha snarled, her teeth fully bared as she pushed to her feet to glare at him across the table. Rinnal edged away as Maress put a calming, restraining hand on her mate's shoulder.

"We've both worn collars, Vinnie." The Retriever told him. "We're not as ignorant of what it is like as you seem to think."

"You're obviously not as clued in as you think, if you expect me to just roll over an be happy about it." The mouse wasn't about to back down, even as Rinnal moved a little further away, watching Kessha warily.

"You want to feel sorry for yourself, fine." The silver Saluki snarled. "If you can't see a future worth having after only a few months, we're hardly going to waist the money freeing you."

"Believe me, if I was free I wouldn't be hanging around here in any case."

"Most don't," Maress said simply. "Even when they can't get home."

"Well there you go." Vinnie stood up from the table, leaving the remains of his meal where it was. He shot the three of them one more, furious glance and then set off in the direction of the stables.

No one said a word. Rinnal looked at him worriedly, but staid where he was; Kessha slowly settled, her growling settling down to a reasonable level as her mate settled her.

"Rinnal, take him home."

"Yes, ma'am," he nodded quickly to Maress and bolted after the mouse.

The horse was brought out and mounted in silence, the smoky gray Saluki tense in the saddle as they rode out of the villa.

"What in the nine hells were you thinking back there?" The canine finally demanded. "You had it made."

"Not by my measure," Vinnie snorted.

"Mouse, they were going to free you." He shot back. "Six months is the longest it's taken anyone to buy themselves after Maress has them."

"Well that sure as hell wasn't the impression they gave," Vinnie retorted. "I've had girlfriends who didn't grill me that hard."

"Considering the amount of money they spend freeing someone, they've got a right to be sure you'd make it on the outside. That you had something to do with yourself, and the desire to." He shook his head. "You had us all fooled for a while."

"Hey, I've got plenty I wanted to do. It's not my fault the psychos that run this place stole my life."

"And you couldn't look past feeling sorry for yourself long enough to give them a reason to help you get that life back."

"Hey, they didn't say one word about any of that. You might be willing to play the happy little slave but I'm sick of all this bullshit."

"I haven't been a slave for seven years." Rinnal said bluntly. "I stay because they're good to me, and I like them. You just seem to think it's a crime to show interest in someone you like. I know they've treated you a hell of a lot better than anyone in the barracks do, and you give them grief for being curious about you."

"You don't know anything about they way they treat me in the barracks," Vinnie growled. "And you don't know anything about me, or what I want."

"I suppose not," he shrugged, "but I know you aren't going to be freed as easily as you could have been, without whatever's making you change your story around."

"Well I'm pretty much coming to expect that," Vinnie growled. "I've never been to a planet where every inhabitant was suck a fuck."

"Which is why I'm giving you a ride after you insulted my mistresses," Rinnal growled back. "Why you were allowed to sleep when you were tired and we're never forced to do what you objected you. Sure we are. And I don't need to listen to you insult me or them. Get off."

"Fine." His dismount wasn't the most graceful thing, but by this point neither of them much cared. "I can find my way perfectly well." He turned and stalked off along the road without looking back as the horse trotted the other direction at a good clip.
